A reflection about the relationsship between man and nature
Many times, when nature speaks, one does not fully understand the language. Each visit, each time, each season – the light varies – has its own unique story even if the location is the same. But, one can sense it.
A forest hiker who today, like in the past, stays out in the fields long periods learns more and more about nature’s own language, even if nature’s all words may not be fully understood – like a foreign language – a relationship with nature, the fields, still arises over time. It is a kind of interpretation of nature’s sign language. There is no need for IT knowledge, no higher science education, the only thing that is really needed is the ability to stop and listen to the harmonies of nature. Open, sharp and relaxed minds. To then try to see what you see and hear what you hear. Sense what you sense.
In lands and forests that are carefully managed with regards to people and the environment, history and ecology, species and vitality, nature can tell an incredibly beautiful language. A biological diversity that describes the positive power of life in a very unique harmony that perhaps can be compared to the most beautiful melody. That is language of healing.
Having been able to experience, see and work in similar environments gives energy to work with difficult issues between, e.g. man and nature. We consider the listening to the harmonies of nature – nature’s own melody – as the most important foundation for understanding ourselves, our surroundings and needs. It remains to be seen if our ears and minds are sharp enough for the tasks. And likewise to understand and transfer knowledge.
